Suzuki Australia has recalled the UK110 scooter over an engine stalling issue.
The official recall notice was issued through the Australian Competition and Consumer Council.
It says the fastening nut from the drive pulley on the CVT has been insufficiently tightened due to an improper tightening method and incorrect tightening torque.
During assembly, soldering flux may have been left on the contact terminals of the ignition switch base.
What are the hazards?
The recall notice warns that the nut may become loose and cause “abnormal noise or cause the machine not to run”.
“If the machine is continued to be ridden the flux could soften and could cause the machine to stop running,” it says.
Recall notices are issued by the manufacturer through a voluntary industry code under the ACCC.
Despite hundreds of recalls by various automotive manufacturers, only a handful have been mandatory. All others have been issued by the manufacturer.
While any recall is not good news for the manufacturer, it shows that they are largely diligent in fixing problems.
